RenCASA, an RCEAF Advocacy Program

About RenCASA

Mission Statement

RenCASA’s (Renaissance Community Abuse Support Advocates) mission is to support Renaissance festival participants who are survivors of intimate partner and sexual violence by providing crisis intervention, resources, education, and referrals to allied professionals.

RenCASA Advocates are trained and certified through the National Organization for Victim Assistance (NOVA) and receive continued education through Maryland Network Against Domestic Violence (MNADV) and other nationally recognized organizations.

The RenCASA program was founded by Erin Dunn, who is the Advocate Coordinator.

Erin Dunn

Cat Lyons - She/They

RCEAF Secretary, and RenCASA Advocate, has worked as an entertainer and with artisans at Renaissance festivals since 2005. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s in Human Services, Cat is proud to serve the community as a trained advocate and a friend, with compassion, indefatigable spirit, and determination.

Sam Dionisio - They/Them

Tamar Woo

Tamara Woo has been working at Renaissance festivals as a booth worker, an entertainer, and a costume designer since 2000. She has witnessed the circuit and festival community grow and change over the years, with its many ups and downs, recessions and successes, and cultural shifts. This extraordinary collective of artists and dreamers has had a vast impact on who she is today, and she joined RCEAF to give back to the community that shaped and, in many ways, saved her.

Melissa "Micci" Levy

Nancy Jones (she/her)

Nancy Jones (she/her), RCEAF/RenCASA founding member and current board member, has been working full-time as an employee and manager for multiple Renaissance Festival vendors since 2014. Nancy's background is in employee benefits, human resources, and business consulting, so she's been using her past experience to assist her community both in person as a prior advocate with RenCASA as well as behind the scenes helping to get our early fundraising efforts going and with ongoing graphic design.
